Black Bear Hunts

Idaho is one of the only states where you can hunt during the spring using bait and/or hounds. Our spring season runs May through June, and our fall season runs September through October.

The two styles of bear hunting Sulphur Creek Outfitters uses are: bait and spot-and-stalk. We are very good at both methods and you can change styles during your hunt. Occassionally we use hounds, but since the re-introduction of wolves this method is a little bit dangerous for the dogs.

All bear hunts are 5-days with meals, lodging and transportation included (once you arrive in the hunting area). You will stay in one of our cabins and have your showers and meals in the lodge.

Our licensed area has a good bear population, and the hidden gem of our hunts is the color phases we have; blacks, blondes, chocolates, cinnamon and a variation of red. Average skull size of boars is around 18 inches with the top end of the bears having 20 to 21 inch skulls.
